The Four Wives - Motivational Story

There was once a rich merchant who married four wives. He loved the fourth wife the most and adorned her with rich, good and costly clothes and other materials, and treated her to delicacies. He greatly took special care of her, gave her the best and almost anything she demanded for. Also, the rich merchant loved the third wife very much. He was always very proud of her and always wanted to show her off to his friends. However, the rich merchant is always in fear that one day she might run away with some other men.



He loved his second wife too. She is always very considerate in everything she does, always patient and in fact, she is the merchant's confidence. Whenever the merchant encountered serious problems, he always
turned to his second wife and she would always help him out with her wise and brilliant ideas and tide him through every of his difficult times. The first wife is a very loyal woman, she has made very great contributions in maintaining her husband's wealth and business. Aside all of that, she always take good and proper care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife in any way and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took any notice of her. One fateful day, the merchant fell terribly ill and soon, he knew that he was going to die.


He thought of his luxurious and "fulfiled" life and told himself, " I have four wives with me. But when I die,I'll be all alone. How lonely I'll be!" So, he asked the fourth wife, "I loved you most, adorned you with the best clothing and showed great care towards you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me so that you can keep me company?" "No way!" replied the fourth wife and she walked away without another word. The answer cut into the merchant's heart like a sharp knife would do. The sad merchant then called on the third wife and said, "I have showed you so much love all my life. 


Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me from being lonely?" "No!" replied the third wife. "Life is so cool over here! In fact, I'm going to remarry when you die!" The rich merchant's heart sank deep and turned cold. He then asked the second wife, "I always turned to you for help and you've always been there for me . Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me from being lonely?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" was the reply she gave. 

"At most, I can only send you to the grave." This answer came like a bolt of thunder accompanied by lightening and the merchant was down and devastated. While the merchant was still thinking, a voice called out : "I'll leave with you. I'll follow you wherever you go." The merchant looked up and it was his first wife. She was so skinny, as if she suffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved and with a trembling voice tone, the merchant said, "I wish I had taken care of you while I could have !"


Actually, each of the four wives represent a part of our life


1. The fourth wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it'll leave us when we die.


2. The third wife. Which represents Our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all won't go with us. In fact, others take them
.
3. The second wife represents our family and friends. No matter how close they had been with us when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.


4. The first wife is in fact our soul, which often neglected in our pursuit of material, wealth and sensual pleasure.


You know what? It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go. Perhaps it's a good idea to cultivate and strengthen it now rather than to wait until we're on our deathbed to lament.

Heart Touching Story- WHOM TO BLAME


A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage. They were a Loving couple and the boy was the gem of their eyes.

When the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open. He was late for office so he asked his wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. His wife, preoccupied in the kitchen totally forgot about the open medicine bottle.

The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle fascinated by its colour and drank it all. It happened to be a poisonous medicine Meant for adults in small dosages. When the child collapsed, mother hurried him to the hospital, where he died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified how to face her husband.

When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead child, he looked at his wife and uttered just five words.

The husband just said "I am with you Darling." The husband's totally unexpected reaction is a proactive behavior.

The Child is dead. He can never be brought back to life.

There is no point in finding fault with the mother. Besides, if only he had taken time to keep the bottle away, this would not have happened.

No one is to be blamed. She had also lost her only child. What she needed at that moment was consolation and sympathy from the husband. That is what he gave her.

If everyone can look at life with this kind of perspective, there would be much fewer problems in the world. "A journey of a thousand miles Begins with a single step." Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness and fears. And you will find things are actually not as difficult as you think.

Moral of the Story:
Sometimes we spend time in asking who is responsible or whom to blame, whether in a relationship, in a job or with the people we know. By this way we miss out some warmth in human relationship.

Rare Information About Param Vir Chakra

Savitri Khanolkar is the designer of India's highest gallantry award, the Param Vir Chakra.

Savitri Khanolkar, born Eve Yvonne Maday de Maros, on July 20, 1913 - 1990 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, to a Hungarian father André de Maday, professor of sociology at Geneva University and President of the Société de Sociologie de Genève, and Russian mother Marthe Hentzelt, who taught at the Institut Jean-Jacques Rousseau. She later was known as Savitri Bai, the name she was given after she married an Indian, became a Hindu and took Indian nationality.

She spent her early childhood in Geneva, where she grew to be a compassionate girl with a love of nature and the outdoors. In 1929, when she was still a teenager, she met Vikram Khanolkar, who born in Marathi family, a young Indian Army officer undergoing training at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurstin the United Kingdom, who was holidaying in Europe. Although he was many years older than she was, Eve fell in love with him. Her father however, did not agree to let her go away to a faraway country like India but Eve was a determined young woman, and her love was strong. She followed Vikram to India a few years later, and in 1932, she married him at Mumbai. She began her new life adapting to Indian culture as Mrs. Savitribai Khanolkar.

Despite coming (or maybe because of coming) from a European background, Savitri Bai identified so closely with Hindu traditions and ideals, that her integration into Indian society was smooth and effortless. She was a vegetarian, learnt to speak fluent Marathi, Sanskrit and Hindi and learnt Indian music, dance and painting. She always claimed that she had been "born in Europe by mistake" as she was Indian soul, & woe unto him who dared to call her a "foreigner"! She was so fascinated with Hindu mythology that she read extensively from Hindu scriptures and had a deep knowledge of India's ancient history and legends. It was this knowledge that led Major General Hira Lal Atal, the creator of the Param Vir Chakra, to ask for Savitri Bai's help in designing a medal that would truly symbolize the highest bravery. Soon after Indian independence, she was asked by the Adjutant General Major General Hira Lal Atal to design India’s highest award for bravery in combat, the Param Vir Chakra.

Major General Hira Lal Atal was given the responsibility for creating and naming independent India’s new military decorations. His reasons for choosing Mrs.Khanolkar were her deep and intimate knowledge of Indian mythology, Sanskrit and Vedas, which he hoped would give the design a truly Indian ethos. She was a painter and an artist, and wife of Captain (later Major General) Vikram Ramji Khanolkar, a serving officer with the Sikh Regiment, at the time of the request. Coincidentally, the first PVC was awarded to her elder daughter's brother-in-law Major Som Nath Sharma from 4 Kumaon Regiment who wasposthumously awarded for his valour of November 3, 1947 during the 1947-48 Indo-Pak war in Kashmir.

The design of Param Vir Chakra :

Savitribai thought of the sage Dadhichi - a vedic rishi who made the ultimate sacrifice to the Gods. He gave up his body so that the Gods could fashion a deadly weapon - a Vajra, or thunderbolt, from his thigh bone. Savitribai gave Major General Hira Lal Atal, the design of the double Vajra, common in Tibet. Its a myth that the medal also carries images of the fearless warrior king Shivaji's sword Bhavani but this is a popular perpetuated myth. The Indian General Service Medal (1947) which contained the Bhavani sword was withdrawn later.

The medal itself is a small one. It is cast in bronze, and has a radius of 13/8 inch. In the centre, on a raised circle, is the state emblem, surrounded by four replicas of Indra's Vajra, flanked by the sword of Shivaji. The decoration is suspended from a straight swiveling suspension bar, and is held by a 32 mmpurple ribbon.


Savitri Bai had always done a lot a social work which she continued in her later years, working with soldiers and their families and refugees who had been displaced during the Partition. After her husband's death in 1952, she found refuge in spirituality, and retired to the Ramakrishna Math. She wrote a book on the Saints of Maharashtra that is popular even today.


Mrs. Savitri Bai Khanolkar died in 1990, but her memory lives on in the great award that she designed. It is fitting that a remarkable lady who truly lovedIndia and was intensely proud of being an Indian designed an award that is given to soldiers who love their country so much that they are ready to die for it.

Inspirational Pratish Datta - A Blind Student, But IIT Topper


A Big Congratulation to Pratish Datta - A Blind student, but IIT topper, Kharagpur.

“I could not even write a simple mathematical formula. All I did was remember it." - Pratish Datta, the 23 year old blind student who won the gold medal at IIT Kharagpur college, for the best academic performance in Mathematics degree.

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur’s student Pratish Dutta 23 has proved that eyes are not required to see, one can see through his mind, he received the Professor Jagadish Chandra Bose Memorial Gold Medal from President Pranab Mukherjee. Pratish was awarded for the best academic performance among outgoing students of the M.Sc courses in the science disciplines at the IIT. He is from the department of mathematics.

Pratish was six months old when doctors told his parents that he had ‘retinoschesis’ , in which the layers inside the retina gradually get separated from each other, eventually leading to total blindness. By Class VIII, he had to use high-powered magnifying glasses to study.


“His mother would read out his lessons to him,” said Pratish’s father Prabir Datta. “All the credit goes to his mother. He even ranked second in the country in GATE this year. We feel so proud. My boy is no different… Rather, he has proved better than many,” Datta said.

 
It was in his second year at St Xavier's College that he lost his sight completely. Ranjana turned a full-time reader for her son and when he cracked IIT-JEE , she moved to Kharagpur with him. Pratish and his mother live in a rented apartment on the IIT-Kgp campus. "We received a lot of help from people . His IIT teachers and classmates were very kind. At St Xavier's , College they would print question papers on A3 sheets for him," Ranjana said.

His PhD guide Sourabh Mukhopadhyay is amazed at how a visually impaired person could score so high in a subject like Mathematics. "This has never happened in IIT, Kharagpur, or anywhere in the world," he said.

A young girl. 13 years old always wanted love in her life and never knew how to get it. Oh how she wanted to be loved and wanted to love. One day she went in a chat room not looking for a special relationship with someone, just felt like talking. She met a nice young man, told her he was 19 and he was nice to her and she liked him. They exchanged e-mails and kept in contact. Everytime the girl would talk to him and have fun, she only thought as him as a good friend but, one day he started telling her how he really felt about her. 
 
By this time it had been three months they had been talking. She started realizing she had some feelings for him to but, she didn't want to think this was a sex offender or anything so she just told him what she really felt about him and why she wasn't opening up to him. He understood but, was sad. He said he never wanted to hurt her. After a while they stopped talking and she grew sad because she missed him. He said he was caught up with college and work and couldn't be on much. he came back on and she told him that she loved him, she just knew her feelings for him then.
 
They had a relationship over the internet for a while, they were so happy. Then he stopped talking to her again for a while. He came back on and told her he was gone cuz of school and work again. She understood and was just happy he was back. He said he had to go for a little bit but wanted her to talk to his roommate and become friends with him. So she agreed. They talked and as she talked to him, he seemed so much like her love, he talked the same way and made her feel good the same way. Then she started thinking maybe it was a joke and tat she was talking to her love the whole time and he was just being mean. She was confused. The boy started saying he really liked her and that he thought he loved her. She grew scared now. 

Her love came back on and started asking if she liked his roommate. She told him he was a very nice boy. He started asking if she would want to date them both, he and his roommate. She started thinking he didn't love her as he led on and didn't care if she was with another man. She told that to him and said she was sad. he told her he loved her so much but, wasn't sure if he was who she wanted. 
 
After that they forgot about the whole thing until the girl got an offline message from the boy and it was saying he was going to take her away from her love because he loved her so much. She told her love and he got upset with his roommate. After that the boy was told he could only be a friend to the girl, he didn't like it but, he wanted to talk to her so he accepted the agreement. They all stopped talking because the boys computers got a virus and the girl never knew that. She grew lonely and thought her love would never talk to her again. So, she sent him a message saying she didn't want to be with him anymore.
The next week while she was on the computer the boy came on and told the girl that her love had been arrested for attempting to have sex with a minor. 

By this time the girl had already turned 14 years of age. She was so upset. She still loved him. The boy was nice and talked to her and made her feel better. She started realizing the boy wasn't such a bad guy. She grew to realize the man that she loved had lied to her. He never loved her and was just playing a mean joke. Now the boy says he loves the girl and she likes him a lot now but is afraid the same incident will happen again. The boy knows this and accepts it and will wait for her till she knows how she feels or even wants him. She found a better man. 
 
After a couple years she met this boy in person. She never told him how she felt they just talked for a few years. She finally thought it was appropriate at the time they met that she told him she loved him. She did that and he was happy, he thought she never cared for him. But, he was wrong. Then they went out together for a year and they got married and had a baby girl. They were married for 5 years when the girl grew ill while she was pregnant with her second child. She gave birth to a baby boy and died a week after his birth. The baby boy was born sick and died the day after the mother.

This was a girl who was truely loved by her husband and got as she wished. This man was her miracle and she had now been loved and loved too.

The boy raised his daughter, she was raped at age 16 by the man her mother onced loved. The was sent to prison. The daughter gave birth to a baby boy and raised it. The father loved his wife so much that his daughter looked so much like her that he couldn't stand it anymore. He thought he would go crazy and think his daughter is his wife and do horrible things to her that wouldn't be horrible if it was his wife. He killed himself thinking he would be with his wife. But, he never found her. For he had been put in another place.

All too often science is seen as a male field, and women who are interested in science, mathematics or computers can be put off by the idea that science is not for them.

In fact, the history of science and some of the most amazing discoveries feature many amazing women who made vital and impressive contributions. Check out these pioneering women.


Marie Curie
Perhaps one of the most famous scientists who have ever lived, Marie Curie was the first person to ever be awarded not just one, but two Nobel Prizes — one for Physics and one for Chemistry. She is still the only person to have won a Nobel Prize in two different scientific disciplines.

Her first Nobel Prize was for physics and was awarded in 1903 to her, her husband and another physicist. In 1911 she received her second Nobel Prize for Chemistry. Her accomplishments included the discovery of new elements and research into the properties of radiation and radioactive elements. Her contributions to science eventually led to her death in 1934 as her exposure to radiation gave her fatal aplastic anemia.

                                                               
Ada Lovelace
While computer programming is often seen as a traditionally male domain, the very first computer program was actually written by a woman.

Ada Lovelace was a British aristocrat of the mid-nineteenth century. When she was young she became interested in mathematics, particularly Charles' Babbage's analytical engine — an unbuilt design for a general-use mechanical computer.

In the 1840s she translated an Italian article on the engine and included her own notes. These notes were where she wrote her algorithm: the first computer program. While her contemporaries saw the main aim of computers to simply be the calculation of various numbers, Lovelace thought that they could go much further, although it's unlikely she predicted SEO services and YouTube!



Rosalind Franklin
Ask most people who discovered the structure of DNA, and if they have an answer at all, they will say that it was James Watson and Francis Crick. Indeed, they published the paper that showed its structure and won a Nobel Prize, but they were using the work of a woman, Rosalind Franklin.

Franklin used X-ray diffraction to make images of various molecular structures, including DNA. It was her images and interpretations of her results that gave Crick and Watson the information they needed. Watson looked at her data without her permission, and her contributions were barely mentioned in their paper. However, Francis Crick apologized for how she was treated in the afterword to his book on the discovery of DNA. Sadly, this was too late, as Franklin died in 1958 at the age of just 37.

MIRACLE OF LIFE - A MUST READ..

Twin girls, Brielle and Kyrie, were born 12 weeks ahead of their due date. Needing intensive care, they were placed in separate incubators.

Kyrie began to gain weight and her health stabilized. But Brielle, born only 2 lbs, had trouble breathing, heart problems and other complications. She was not expected to live.

Their nurse did everything she could to make Brielle’s health better, but nothing she did was helping her. With nothing else to do, their nurse went against hospital policy and decided to place both babies in the same incubator.

She left the twin girls to sleep and when when she returned she found a sight she could not believe. She called all the nurses and doctors and this is what they saw (refer to the picture above).

As Brielle got closer to her sister, Kyrie put her small little arm around her, as if to hug and support her sister. From that moment on, Brielle’s breathing and heart rate stabilized and her health became normal.

Well, I was wondering hows it possible..It seems too miraculous to be true..

Story 2:
*******                       The Most Shocking Thing 

The most shocking thing I ever saw happened on TV when I was twelve.

Flipping the dial boredly, I'd stumbled onto a documentary, catching it in the middle, this particular clip coming from a home movie, shot shakily with hand-held camera and replayed at too high a frame-rate.

The scene showed a European villa sometime in the mid-1940s, and camera focused on a large German shepherd. The animal's coat shone even upon the spotty film, and it panted healthily, though artificially accelerated to near double-time.

Into camera's view reached a hand which began stroking the animal's fine coat. Obviously, this was the master, for he rubbed the Alsatian's flank expertly, causing it to crane its neck and shake its foreleg in time to the strokes. The master paused, and the dog instantly turned and licked his palm twice. Hand patted dog's head---and though it was a silent film, I imagined delighted laughter from slightly off-screen. The caress was resumed, and dog's mouth hung open, tongue lolling to the side.

While dated and warn, this film captured something timeless: the connection shared between master and pet.

And that's when the shock came.

The camera panned back. Master's uniformed arm came into view, then half his body---from jackboot to crested shoulder---until finally face appeared.

Instantly, I recognized him. There, sporting rectangular mustache, sat history's greatest villain. There, petting this wondrous animal, sat Adolf Hitler.

I nearly lost my breath, for in that moment I saw that this horrible man---Adolf Hitler---truly loved his dog

Johnny has been living with his mother all his life in a small townhouse sitting on the outskirts of London, United Kingdom.

Johnny is 19 and have been suffering from cancer for a number of years, a cancer that cannot be treated and he could die at any moment. Nearly all his life, Johnny was stuck at home and his mother had taken good care of him. He seldom went out to social with his friends but since its such a Sunny day, Johnny decided to go out for a change. So he asked his mother and she gave him permission.

After dressing himself and making sure he had pocketed his wallet, he eventually left. Johnny arrives at the shopping center which was only a 15 minute walk from where he lived. The very first store that came into Johnny's vision was the CD store, he decides to go in and see if they had anything he would like.

A young girl aged 19 working at the cashier caught Johnnys attention, and despite bumping into other people in front of him, he got closer and closer until he was finally at the front desk where she sat.

She looked up and said, "Good afternoon, how may I help you today?"

The smile Johnny received from the young girl, swept Johnnys feet right off the ground. It was the most cute and beautiful smile he had ever seen, and he even wanted to give her a kiss right on the spot.

He replied, "Oh yeah, I would like to buy a cd."

He then picks one up not even knowing who the singer was and pays for it.

The young girl asked, "Would you like me to wrap it up for you?", and again giving Johnny the same smile as before.

Johnny agrees, so there she goes to wrap up the CD.

Two mintues later she returned with the wrapped CD and gave it to him.

"Thank you very much and we shall meet again." said Johnny.

Later that day, Johnny was walking home only to think about the young girl with the most beautiful smile, and from then on, everyday he went to the same store to buy a CD.

Every day, after reaching home from the CD store, Johnny would place the CD into his closet until he realize he needs more space for storage. He buys a CD rack and so the problem was solved.

Three months has passed and Johnny is still too shy to even offer a date out with the young girl, he really wanted to ask but he has no courage. Soon, his mother found out about this and she even tried to help him.

She said, "Dear, Find yourself, for courage and confidence are as easy as breathing to the person who really knows who he is. "

The following day, with the wisdom Johnny had learned from his mother, he went back to the store. He bought a CD like he did everyday and as he was paying for his CD, he delibertly gives the young girl the cash with a note under it stating his phone number written on the front.

Back at Johnny's home, after counting how many CD's he had purchased from day one until today, totalled at exactly 100. Johnny then decides to cut down on the CD purchases and never showed up at the CD store for one whole week.

Seven days later, the young girl is wondering why in a sudden would Johnny give her his phone number and not showing up for one whole week? She decides to call him up tomorrow morning.

"Ring ring ring ring ring"

The mother picked up the phone and said "Hello?"

It was the young girl! She happily asked for Johnny. In response, Johnny's mother paused for at least thirty seconds because she had no control from stopping the tears draining her eyes.

After wiping the tears of her eyes, Johnny's mother said "He passed away two days ago."

The line was quiet except for the cries from his mother.

Later in the same day, the mother went into Johnnys room because she knew that even if Johnny isn't here, his spirit will forever remain by the side of her. She folded some clothes which belonged to Johnny and placed them back into his closet. When she opened the closet, suddenly a stack of CD's had fallen out onto the floor.
She was surprised to find a few stacks of CD's all over his bedroom, and as she picked one up, she sat down on the bed starting to open one.

Inside, there was a CD and as she took it out of the wrapper, out fell a piece of paper. The mother picked it up and started to read . . .

Hi, I think you are really cute. Do you wanna go out with me? >>>>> Love Jacelyn <<<<<

Johnny's mother opened another CD...

And again there was a piece of paper saying, " Hi, I think you are really cute. Do you wanna go out with me? " >>>>> Love Jacelyn <<<<<

My personal thoughts : You will never know if the person you have fallen in love with is the one who will be there when you most need them and STILL be there when you don't . Theres no other way to find out unless the both of you are willing to accept the consequences after a painful outcome.

According to how shy Johnny was, if he had known how strong confidence and courage was, than the young girl and Johnny would have got together (Disregard this was based on an Inspirational sad story).

Love is ... When you've had a huge fight but then decide to put aside your egos, hold hands and say, " I love you."

My wife called,‘How long will you be with that newspaper? Will you come here and make your darling daughter eat her food?’

I tossed the paper away and rushed to the scene. My only daughter Sindu looked frightened.

Tears were welling up in her eyes. In front of her was a bowl filled to its brim with Curd Rice.

Sindu is a nice child, quite intelligent for her age.She has just turned eight.She particularly detested Curd Rice.

My mother and my wife are orthodox, and believe firmly in the ‘cooling effects’ of Curd Rice!

I cleared my throat, and picked up the bowl. ‘Sindu, darling,why don’t you take a few mouthful of this Curd Rice?Just for Dad’s sake, dear.

Sindu softened a bit, and wiped her tears with the back of her hands. ‘OK, Dad. I will eat – not just a few
mouthfuls, but the whole lot of this. But, you should…’ Sindu hesitated.

‘Dad, if I eat this entire curd Rice, will you give me whatever I ask for?’………..

Oh sure, darling’….

’Promise?’……………..

‘Promise’.

I covered the pink soft hand extended by my daughter with mine, and clinch the deal.

‘Ask Mom also to give a similar promise’, my daughter insisted.

My wife put her hand on Sindu’s, muttering ‘Promise’.

Now I became a bit anxious. ‘Sindu dear, you shouldn’t insist on getting a computer or any such expensive items.Dad does not have that kind of money right now. OK?’

‘No, Dad. I do not want anything expensive’.Slowly and painfully, she finished eating the whole quantity.

I was silently angry with my wife and my mother for forcing my child eat something that she detested.

After the ordeal was through, Sindu came to me with her eyes wide with expectation.All our attention was on her………….

’Dad, I want to have my head shaved off, this Sunday!’ was her demand.

‘Atrocious!’ shouted my wife,

‘A girl child having her head shaved off? Impossible!’

‘Never in our family!’ my mother rasp.

‘She has been watching too much of television. Our culture is getting totally spoiled with these TV programs!’

Sindu darling, why don’t you ask for something else? We will be sad seeing you with a clean-shaven head.’

‘No, Dad. I do not want anything else’, Sindu said with finality.

‘Dad, you saw how difficult it was for me to eat that Curd Rice’. Sindu was in tears.

‘And you promised to grant me whatever I ask for.Now, you are going back on your words. Was it not you who told me the story of King Harishchandra, and its moral that we should honor our promises no matter what?’

It was time for me to call the shots. ‘Our promise must be kept.’

‘Are you out your mind?’ chorused my mother and wife.

‘No. If we go back on our promises, she will never learn to honor her own.

Sindu, your wish will be fulfilled.’

With her head clean-shaven, Sindu had a round-face, and her eyes looked big and beautiful.

On Monday morning, I dropped her at her school. It was a sight to watch my hairless Sindu walking towards her classroom.

She turned around and waved. I waved back with a smile.

Just then, a boy alighted from a car, and shouted, ‘Sinduja, please wait for me!’
What struck me was the hairless head of that boy. ‘May be, that is the in-stuff’,
I thought.

‘Sir, your daughter Sinduja is great indeed!’ Without introducing herself, a lady got out of the car, and continued,’That boy who is walking along with your daughter is my son Harish.He is suffering from… …leukemia.’ She paused to muffle her sobs. Harish could not attend the school for the whole of the last month.He lost all his hair due to the side effects of the chemotherapy. He refused to come back to school fearing the unintentional but cruel teasing of the schoolmates’ Sinduja visited him last week, and promised him that she will take care of the teasing issue.

But, I never imagined she would sacrifice her lovely hair for the sake of my son!

Sir, you and your wife are blessed to have such a noble soul as your daughter.’

I stood transfix. And then, I wept. ‘My little Angel, you are teaching me how self-less real love is!’

I was 19 and you were 23.
You were serving at an unit near my home.
I don’t know what happened to us as we exchanged looks at the raising day of your unit.

The next very moment you came closer by and asked me
if I was interested in dancing with you.
I said yes, and off we went to the dance floor.
As we started dancing romantic songs started playing,
you caught me by my waist and I by your shoulder.
We started talking and your constant staring at me made me blush. After the dance and dinner got over,
it was time for me to leave but then you asked my number.
I gave you mine and everyday we started talking to each other.

The day came for you that you got transferred.
The night before you left, you told me that you fell in love the very first day you saw me.

We were in two different states but kept in touch.

Few years later we got engaged.
After our engagement you had to leave for the terror stroked Kashmir, promising that you would be back on our wedding day.

I was eagerly waiting for the day to come.

I was walking around in a Big Bazar store making shopping, when I saw a Cashier talking to a boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old..

The Cashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy this doll. Then the little boy turned to me and asked: ''Uncle, are you sure I don't have enough money?''

I counted his cash and replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money to buy the doll, my dear.'' The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand.

Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to. 'It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much . I wanted to Gift her for her BIRTHDAY.

I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.' His eyes were so sad while saying this. 'My Sister has gone to be with God.. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister...''

My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: 'I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall.' Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me 'I want mommy to take my picture with her so my sister won't forget me.' 'I love my mommy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.' Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly..

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. 'Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?''

'OK' he said, 'I hope I do have enough.' I added some of my money to his with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.

The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!'

Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give It to my sister. He heard me!'' 'I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose. My mommy loves white roses.'

I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.. I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever...

The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

A day after that the phone rings. Nobody answers. It was Ricardo, he called to leave a message. "Its Ricardo, I guess you're not home so, I called to let you know that I'm alive, I missed my flight because I had to see you one last time. So, I hope your not worried. I am staying for good.

Lord Ganesha and His Intelligent Decision


On one occasion Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati were gifted a fruit by the other Gods. Both their sons, Ganesha and Karthikeya wished to have the fruit. There was just one fruit and two them wished to have it. The two did not want to have it half. So, finally Lord Shiva decided to solve the dispute by finding out who is the eldest of both. It was not about the age, but about the intelligence that the competition was based on. So Lord Shiva decided that the two would compete on a challenge. The challenge was to go around the world thrice and return back the earliest. The one who finishes the task and returns to them the fastest will win the fruit.

The race started and Karthikeya got over his peacock. Peacock was his vehicle on which Karthikeya used to roam around. He flew all around the earth. On the way he also stopped and paid his homage to the sacred spots and offered prayers for the well being of his family. However, what surprised him the most was that at every stop, he would see Ganesha far ahead of him. Karthikeya was puzzled at that.

Ganesha’s vehicle was the mouse. He very well knew that a mouse and a peacock cannot compete. The peacock would easily beat the mouse in the race. In that sense, he will never be able to win the race.

Ganesha thought for sometime and finally came up with some solution. Instead of circling the world he started walking around his parents, Lord Shiva and Parvati. He completed three rounds with his hands folded. His parents were confused at the sight. They asked the reason why he was revolving around them. On this Ganesha replied that for him his parents mean the world. He need not travel around the world. Ganesha completed his revolution around his parents.

Sometime passed by, and they saw Karthikeya returning on his peacock. He managed to circle the earth on his vehicle. But, when he came back he got to know that Ganesha had already won the competition. Lord Shiva explained to him that Ganesha had won the race on the basis of his quick thinking and intelligence and not on the basis of his strength.

Karthikeya accepted his defeat and bowed in front of Ganesha was his intelligence.

Alexander And 10 Brahmins Of India - Historical Story of INDIA


While in India, Alexander took ten of the Brahmins prisoner. These men had a great reputation for intelligence, so Alexander decided to give them a test. He announced that the one who gave the worst answer would be the first to die, and he made the oldest Brahmin the judge of the competition.

Which are more numerous, Alexander asked the first one, the living or the dead? "The living," said the Brahmin, "because the dead no longer count."

Which produces more creatures, the sea or the land? Alexander asked the second. "The land," was his answer, "because the sea is only a part of it."

The third was asked which animal was the smartest of all, and the Brahmin replied: "The one we have not found yet."

Alexander asked the fourth what argument he had used to stir up the Indians to fight, and he answered: "Only that one should either live nobly or die nobly."

Which is older: day or night? was Alexander's question to the fifth, and the answer he got was: "Day is older, by one day at least." When he saw that Alexander was not satisfied with this answer, the Brahmin added: "Strange questions get strange answers."

What should a man do to make himself loved? asked Alexander, and the sixth Brahmin replied: "Be powerful without being frightening. "

What does a man have to do to become a god? he asked the seventh, who responded: "Do what is impossible for a man."

The question to the eighth was whether death or life was stronger, and his answer: "Life is stronger than death, because it bears so many miseries."

The ninth Brahmin was asked how long it was proper for a man to live, and he said: "Until it seems better to die."

Then Alexander turned to the judge, who decided that each one had answered worse than another. "You will die first, then, for giving such a decision," said Alexander. "Not so, mighty king," said the Brahmin, "if you want to remain a man of your word. You said that you would kill first the one who made the worst answer." Alexander gave all of the Brahmins presents and set them free, even though they had persuaded the Indians to fight him.

Thank you. I'm honored to be with you today for your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. Truth be told, I never graduated from college, and this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation. Today, I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories.

The first story is about connecting the dots. I dropped out of Reed College after the first six months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out?

It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl.

So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking, "We've got an unexpected baby boy; Do you want him?" They said, "Of course." My biological mother found out later that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would go to college. This was the start in my life.

And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life.

So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out okay. It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The minute I dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked far more interesting.

It wasn't all romantic. I didn't have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms. I returned coke bottles for the five cent deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the seven miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple. I loved it. And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on.

Let me give you one example:

Reed College at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country. Throughout the campus every poster, every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed. Because I had dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this. I learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great. It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can't capture, and I found it fascinating.

None of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life. But ten years later, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the "Mac" would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac, it's likely that no personal computer would have them.


If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on that calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do. Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backwards 10 years later.

Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the wellworn path, and
that will make all the difference.

My second story is about love and loss.

I was lucky I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz¹ and I started Apple in my parents' garage when I was 20. We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a two billion dollar company with over 4000 employees. We'd just released our finest creation the Macintosh a year earlier, and I had just turned 30.

And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out. When we did, our Board of Directors sided with him. And so at 30, I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating.

I really didn't know what to do for a few months. I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down --that I had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me. I met with David Packard and Bob Noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly. I was a very public failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something slowly began to dawn on me: I still loved what I did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit. I had been rejected, but I was still in love. And so I decided to start over.

I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.

During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT; another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar went on to create the world's first computer animated feature film, Toy Story, and is now the most successful animation studio in the world. In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, and I retuned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple's current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together.

I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometime life sometimes life's going to hit you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love.

And that is as true for work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking and --don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking don't settle.

My third story is about death.

When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I've looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a scan at 7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas. I didn't even know what a pancreas was. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that I should expect to live no longer than three to six months. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor's code for "prepare to die." It means to try and tell your kids everything you thought you'd have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months. It means to make sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family. It means to say your goodbyes. I lived with that diagnosis all day. Later that evening I had a biopsy, where they stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach into my intestines, put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumor. I was sedated, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and, thankfully, I'm fine now. This was the closest I've been to facing death, and I hope it's the closest I get for a few more decades. Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept: No one wants to die.

Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It's Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it's quite true.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.

And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalogue, which was one of the "bibles" of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 60s, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and Polaroid cameras. It was
sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along. It was idealistic, overflowing with neat tools and great notions.

Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. 


Beneath it were the words:


"Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish." It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I've always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin a new, I wish that for you.

Stay Hungry.

Amazing True Love Story


The brand new pastor and his wife, newly assigned to their first ministry, to reopen a church in urban Brooklyn, arrived in early October excited about their opportunities. When they saw their church, it was very run down and needed much work.

They set a goal to have everything done in time to have their first service on Christmas Eve. They worked hard, repairing pews, plastering walls, painting, etc. and on Dec. 18 were ahead of schedule and just about finished.

On December 19 a terrible tempest - a driving rainstorm hit the area and lasted for two days. On the 21st, the pastor went over to the church. His heart sunk when he saw that the roof had leaked, causing a large area of plaster about 6 feet by 8 feet to fall off the front wall of the sanctuary just behind the pulpit, beginning about head high. The pastor cleaned up the mess on the floor, and not knowing what else to do but postpone the Christmas Eve service, headed home.

On the way he noticed that a local business was having a flea market type sale for charity so he stopped in. One of the items was a beautiful, hand-made, ivory colored, crochet tablecloth with exquisite work, fine colors and a Cross-embroidered right in the center. It was just the right size to cover up the hole in the front wall. He bought it and headed back to the church.

By this time it had started to snow. An older woman running from the opposite direction was trying to catch the bus. She missed it. The pastor invited her to wait in the warm church for the next bus 45 minutes later. She sat in a pew and paid no attention to the pastor while he got a ladder, hangers, etc. to put up the tablecloth as a wall tapestry. The pastor could hardly believe how beautiful it looked and it covered up the entire problem area. Then he noticed the woman walking down the center aisle. Her face was like a sheet.

"Pastor," she asked, "Where did you get that tablecloth?" The pastor explained. The woman asked him to check the lower right corner to see if the initials, EBG were crochet into it there. They were. These were the initials of the woman, and she had made this tablecloth 35 years before, in Austria. The woman could hardly believe it as the pastor told how he had just gotten the tablecloth. The woman explained that before the war she and here husband were well-to-do people in Austria. When the Nazis came, she was forced to leave. Her husband was going to follow her the next week. She was captured, sent to prison and never saw her husband or her home again.

The pastor wanted to give her the tablecloth; but she made the pastor keep it for the church. The pastor insisted on driving her home. That was the least he could do. She lived on the other side of Staten Island and was only in Brooklyn for the day for a housecleaning job.

What a wonderful service they had on Christmas Eve. The church was almost full. The music and the spirit were great. At the end of the service, the pastor and his wife greeted everyone at the door and many said that they would return. One older man, whom the pastor recognized from the neighborhood, continued to sit in one of the pews and stare, and the pastor wondered why he was not leaving.

The man asked him where he got the tablecloth on the front wall because it was identical to one that his wife had made years ago when they lived in Austria before the war and how could there be two tablecloths so much alike? He told the pastor how the Nazis came, how he forced his wife to flee for here safety, and he was supposed to follow her, but he was arrested and put in a concentration camp. He never saw his wife or his home again for all the 35 years in between.

The pastor asked him if he would allow him to take him for a little ride. They drove to Staten Island and to the same house where the pastor had taken the woman three days earlier. He helped the man climb the three flights of stairs to the woman's apartment, knocked on the door and the pastor saw the greatest Christmas reunion he could ever imagine.

THE COLOURS OF FRIENDSHIP


Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel. All claimed that they were the best. The most important. The most useful. The most beautiful. The favorite.

Green said:
"Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would die. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority."


Blue interrupted:
"You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my peace, you would all be nothing."


Yellow chuckled:
"You are all so serious. I bring laughter, gaiety, and warmth into the world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow. Every time you look at a sunflower, the whole world starts to smile. Without me there would be no fun."


Orange started next to blow her trumpet:
"I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce, but I am precious for I serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins. Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, mangoes, and papayas. I don't hang around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset, my beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of you."


Red could stand it no longer he shouted out:
"I am the ruler of all of you. I am blood - life's blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring fire into the blood. Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon. I am the color of passion and of love, the red rose, the poinsettia and the poppy."

Purple rose up to his full height:
He was very tall and spoke with great pomp: "I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me for I am the sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me! They listen and obey."


Finally Indigo spoke, much more quietly than all the others, but with just as much determination: "Think of me. I am the color of silence. You hardly notice me, but without me you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace."
And so the colors went on boasting, each convinced of his or her own superiority. Their quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightening, thunder rolled and boomed. Rain started to pour down relentlessly. The colors crouched down in fear, drawing close to one another for comfort.

In the midst of the clamor, rain began to speak:
"You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves, each trying to dominate the rest. Don't you know that you were each made for a special purpose, unique and different? Join hands with one another and come to me."

Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined
hands.

The rain continued:
"From now on, when it rains, each of you will stretch across the sky in a great bow of color as a reminder that you can all live in peace. The Rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow." And so, whenever a good rain washes the world, and a Rainbow appears in the sky, to let us remember to appreciate one another.

Living a Life called soldier"s Wife


Being a girl who is in a relationship with a soldier is not easy n hey it was never meant to be !You are in awe of your man in uniform ,his mannerism ,his service but with it comes a volley of circumstances for which you were never prepared and that no one can experience other than you ,why not after all “Love doesn’t make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.”

1) You get a call at the most unexpected time of the day and you have just slept after a hectic day and you pick up the call in a voice as fresh as a morning dew because you know it means a lot to your man

2) You accompany him on social event and you become superconscious about the color of your outfit ,the most classy and sober dresses seem gaudy to you and you hate yourself for filling up your closet with levis and skirts

3) When a girl asks you how do you manage a long distance relationship,your eyes shine brightly with pride and love you get prepared for a long speech ,then just smile n say ” its not that difficult”

4)You don’t go on a dinner date ,you rather spend the days of leave together ,you keep the hard copies of movies worth watching and see all of them on a laptop together ,its always a repeat for you but u enjoy more watching with him

5) You don’t go to the filmy gossip page of the newspaper the first thing in morning as is done by everyone ,rather your eyes always catch the attention of any news of ceasefire violation across the borders

6)You may celebrate birthdays ,anniversaries in a sobre manner but u always plan something special for celebrating “leave”

7)When every quote written about love ,every status written on distance reminds u of him and you like any page related to forces ,you have your music player filled with songs of longing for love

8) When you are not pampered for your minor injuries or viral fever and is rather being advised to stay strong

The list may be endless but always remember when u count distance in not km but days ,when u are not only happy in your relationship you are a proud girl too ,when you try to face every difficult phase in your workplace remembering the tough working terrains of your guy ,when you don’t complain about every petty issue to your guy when you are strong ,confident ,simple yet madly in love You are.
